Shape, Color and Heat Element

The effectiveness of the IntelliTrap is a result of a number of factors:

1. The unique shape of the trap –the shape of the trap allows it to be a directional trap –i.e. it attracts mosquitoes from a specific direction rather than attract mosquitoes from all over –i.e. it can be directed so that it attracts mosquitoes in your immediate area, rather than attracts mosquitoes from neighboring areas –the trap should be placed 20-25 feet from where you sit.

The liquid attractant -The liquid attractant is based on a yeast fermentation process of food products -the attractant is a complex mixture containing among many other components also in small amounts natural octenol, lactic acid, oxopentanoicacid, Isovalericacid, Ammonia, methylpentanoic, Peptone, Octenoic, Alpha-hydroxylicacid, Folic acid, Oxopropanoicacid, Methylbutanand Acetone. Many metabolites from yeast fermentation are similar to compounds found on human skin and in human breath, compounds which are known to attract mosquitoes. It is important to note that as part of the yeast fermentation process, CO2 is released as a by-product.  From skin and yeast dozens of compounds are known to attract. Moreover it is not only the compounds by itself it is also the percentage of the components/ blend which is attracting or even repelling mosquitoes. So far it was not possible to isolate single substances which are superior to these natural mixtures. This is in fact one of the reasons why the natural attractant is a good lure for mosquitoes of all genera including Aedes, Culexand Anopheles. Synthesized attractants (like octenoland lactic acid) which are based on one or very few compounds are often working not so well, thereby attracting only some genera of mosquitoes or under certain circumstances are even repelling some mosquito species.
   
   The uniqueness of the IntelliTrap is in its ability to operate effectively with and without the attractant -unlike other traps on the market that are ineffective in the absence of the attractant.
